The Art Prescription

I bought the artprescription.com today!, a site I'm working on to combine my two career loves, art and nursing. My goal for this site is to offer beautiful art and perhaps stories and poems available to anyone and everyone who needs a bit of art to enhance their life. I'm a big believer in the healing benefits of art for a balanced and happy life. Art has the ability to boost the immune system! And the act of doing art can take you miles away from your worries. I've always woven art and health in my personal life, and now I'd like to provide a format for sharing the magic of creativity.

Spring Forward

How did we make it through such a cold winter? Sigh...was loving the bare winter branches, but definitely spring has awakened me. I've created a page on a new and exciting website called
www.simplylicensed.com
This is a new painting with all my favorite birds:
Bluebird, House Sparrow, Tufted Titmouse, House Wren, Black-capped Chickadee eggs.

Spring Wildflowers

What a magnificent day yesterday! We spent the first day of spring biking and hiking in local woods in search of the delicate spring ephemeral wildflowers. I took my sketch book.

Farm dreams

What a beautiful spring weekend we had. Worked in the yard all day yesterday!! Read Creative Connection blog for inspiration and linked to Mary Janes Farm site for some great farm life videos.

I sometimes think I'd like to live on a farm and raise my own chickens. For now happy to feed my herd of cats.

A couple of warmer days, some pansies to plant, a bit of weeding, and now I really have spring fever! The trees are budding and daffodils are peeking their heads up about to burst into bloom. There are so many birds at the feeder fueling up for building nests and family planning. I'm working on my three final independent studies for my certificate in botanical illustration. These three pieces will be tightly rendered botanical works.
I've been captured lately with seed pods and have been collecting them at Mason Farm (a local nature habitat) and at the NC Botanical Gardens. These small and very purposeful parts of the plant cycle are ornate and highly architectural. While I'm studying these specimens here's a little tit mouse (loosely rendered in pastel) that stopped by to say Hi!
