Winter Solstice

With this being the shortest day of the year, it seems appropriate to plan ahead. The quiet beauty of winter always provokes time for reflection. While nature is busy growing roots and buds for spring, so many of us are rushing about to create old and new holiday rituals. I myself love long walks admiring the bare winter trees against the cool sky and the sound of the breeze rattling the remaining leaves. The holidays for me includes the magic of a winter wonderland.

My plan ahead includes introducing my new fine art giclees, now available online at www.beverlydyer.etsy.com

These roosters brought warmth and rhythm to my studio.

Join me and my fellow Downing Creek artists to celebrate another year of creating art!! The Downing Creek artists are Beverly Dyer www.beverlydyer.com, Howard Schroeder www.howardaschroeder.com, Rebecca Board www.cyberlily.com, and Cathy Boyd www.catherineboyd.etsy.com

We look forward to having the opportunity to share our studio spaces with our friends. Our studios are where we find and express our muses, the place where we can lose track of time, the place where our true hearts speak!

North Carolina State Symbol Note Cards

I'm thrilled to be able to announce the release of my new North Carolina State Symbol Note Card Collection. I've been working on these paintings for most of 2009 and am looking forward to having the note cards into stores by November 1st.

My studio will be open as part of the 7th Annual Downing Creek Artwalk. I'll be showing the original 8 watercolors that make up the North Carolina State Symbol Collection.

May Plans

"The Remains of the Year" is one of my paintings that will debut as part of the grand opening of the new Churton Street Gallery in Hillsborough, NC. Their logo "Nothing Finer Art & Craft From Carolina," gives me immense pleasure. I'm thrilled to be involved! The grand opening is Friday May 29, 2009 and is part of the Last Friday Artwalk.

Also showing is "Chickadee" and "East Meets West."

UNC graduation was a great success for my Old Well note cards, note pads, and prints. I enjoyed being a guest at A Southern Season to meet excited graduates and their families.

I leave soon for the National Stationery Show in New York! I can't wait to see many friends in the industry and meet new ones. My plans for 2009 include licensing my art. I would like to find a company to collaborate with so I can spend most of my time in my studio!

Snow Day

Woke to a beautiful sea of white and snow falling. Thought I would put up some spring!

Underneath the snow nature is busy preparing for spring. Birds are looking for ideal perches to build nests and soon will start their songs of the season.

Atlanta Americasmart 2009

No Starbucks!

I just had
The best cup
Of coffee.

With three cold
Noses, and
Twelve paws

Walking across
My morning paper
In the sun filled

Room that
Is
Home.

Okay, so I am basically a home-body. I love my life and home and the simplicity of everyday. I got home last night from the Atlanta Americasmart 2009. It was so nice to see friends from previous shows and their new products.

The show was exciting and full of information to fill the senses. I absolutely loved sharing my booth with Karen (Karen Cole Papers).
